Panama City Beach, Florida
Film Photo & Super 8 Video
Picture this …
It’s a crisp 65 degrees on the coast of Florida and there isn’t a cloud in sight - the sun warms you after each gust of wind and skies are as blue as the ocean. Your family and closest friends are in and out of the beach cottage - helping set up one of your biggest days - your wedding. You are marrying your best friend and the love of your life.
As a couple, you decide to do have your day captured in a way that is unique and authentic - timeless and oh, so romantic.
You choose a film photographer & Super 8 Videographer.
There’s something undeniably magical about shooting an entire wedding on film—especially against the salty, sunlit shores of Panama City Beach, Florida.
When I decided to document this Kelsie and Ian’s day exclusively on 35mm, 120mm, and Super 8 film - I knew I’d be stepping into an extremely unique creative zone, one where every shot counted. Unlike digital photography, film challenges you to be intentional; you can’t click away endlessly. Every frame holds weight, and every choice matters.
I brought my dad’s Minolta 7000i Dynax from 1988 for their reception. This camera uses an automatic film advancement and uses a flash - perfect for that flash aesthetic style.
I also used my 1970’s Canon F1. This camera is tried and true - always delivering that dreamy, film texture that makes 35mm stand out from digital photography.
Oh, and don’t forget the Holga Toy Camera - a medium format (120mm) camera that is so simple to use that you might wonder how it creates some of the most aesthetically pleasing photos. (See Kelsie’s Bridal Portrait below)
And of course, I brought my Canon 310xl Super 8 Camera. I feel like a lot of couple’s ask themselves if having video is worth it for their wedding day - and the response always being “I do not regret having video”. Super 8 footage is timeless and documents your day in real time like a 1960’s home video. I don’t think Kelsie & Ian will regret having their grandma’s filmed as the flower girls walking down the aisle throwing out petals.
Why Choose Film for Your Wedding?
For couples drawn to the classic, timeless aesthetic, film offers an unmatched experience. Whether you’re celebrating on the white sands of Panama City Beach or in a cityscape, film captures your day in a way that feels beautifully authentic and ageless.
